Vikings winter sports went crazy this weekend, tallying wins and getting trophies!
Girls' Basketball got things started when they faced Mountain View in the thrid place game of the San Marino Tournament. The Vikings beat the Spartans 41-30 to take the third place trophy. Lulu Davis led the Vikings with a double-double; she had 12 points and 16 rebounds. Taylor Kamemoto had a great game of her own scoring 12 points and collecting three rounds and three assists.
Boys' Soccer played in the Lancaster Tournament Championship game, walking away with a second place trophy after a hard fought weekend. Friday night, to start the tournament, the Vikings beat Lancaster High School 1-0, and Rosamund 3-1. The boys carried the winning into Saturday winning their second game in pentaly kicks. Jake Rothman stopped a Knight goal in PK's and the Vikings scored all five of their PK's for the first win of the day. The Championship game, though, was a tough loss for the Vikings to Arroyo but allowed them to walk away with the second place trophy in the upper division of the tournament.
Boys' Basketball quickly followed with a hard fought game against Camarillo in the Championship game of the Burbank Tournament, but came up just short 88-89. Jonny Garnett had his second double-double of the tournament with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Chris Hammond had 17 points and Jabari Walker contributed 16 points of his own. The second place finish, though, was a good sign of what is to come for these Vikings this 2018-19 season.
Great job winter Vikings!!! Show off those trophies!
