The visual arts program in elementary exposes students in a sequential and developmental way to a wide variety of diverse artistic styles, media, and aesthetic concepts while always encouraging personal creative art-making. Some studio art projects are closely integrated into classroom units of study, but most projects are focused upon art as an expressive medium. During seven years of the elementary studio art curriculum, students develop an increasingly sophisticated and rich repertoire of responses and have better control over a variety of media as they discover their personal artistic “voice.”
