  • Shifting from the traditional alumni reunion model

Over the past ten years, the Alumni Office has learned a lot about how Campbell Hall graduates like to gather and feel connected to their alma mater. Over 100 alumni consistently join us at a local restaurant on the eve of Thanksgiving, and many alumni attend the Carnival, Playdate, Alumni Week festivities, and various affinity events throughout the year.

On the other hand, attendance and interest in our end-of-year reunion continue to decline despite our best efforts. We expanded the reach of the yearly reunion to include all alumni (not just those celebrating a milestone year), lowered the cost of tickets, added entertainment, included hosted food trucks and an open bar, and tried both elevated and casual dining options.

Yet, it continues to be challenging to get the requisite attendance to make the event viable. For these reasons, we have decided to move away from the traditional alumni reunion model and replace it with the option for alumni to co-host an Alumni Hangout or Class Reunion. The program is open to all Argyll Academy or Campbell Hall alumni who are invited to plan an event for 25 or more alumni. Alumni co-hosts can request funding from the Alumni Office and based on the event's parameters (i.e., venue, catering, number of attendees, etc.), the Alumni Board will determine how much the school will be able to allocate to the gathering. The sky's the limit for what you organize with your fellow Vikings as long as the group is willing to cover the balance with their ticket price.
