Dr. Raymond Lavoie

High School History
Ray began his teaching career in 1990 as a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He taught at Junipero Serra High School for one year prior to joining Campbell Hall in 1997. He has served the school as 9th-grade dean, History Department Chair, and, since 2007, in his current role as 11th-grade dean. In addition to his academic duties, he has coached football and track in the high school and middle school. Ray received his B.A. in European Studies from Amherst College, M.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. In support of his studies he was awarded a UCLA Full Support Fellowship as well as a Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service) research stipend. In addition to his dissertation, he has published and presented several papers on various topics related to teaching and medieval studies. He won the USA Rugby Men's Division I National Championship with Santa Monica Rugby Club in 2005 and 2006.
