Theater Arts Teacher for 28 years - CH Teacher for 18 years
I love the students! I love their energy, curiosity, intelligence, talent, skill, desire to take risks, hunger to discover new qualities about themselves, and the support they give each other. I also love Campbell Hall’s support for the arts. This community knows that the arts are integral to our development as empathetic, generous, thoughtful, sublime world citizens. Campbell Hall acknowledges that the arts are vital in following through with our mission.
What do you love to do outside of school/what are your hobbies? My hobbies include: Camping with my kids; running with my beagle, Stella; reading; watching football and listening to basketball, hockey, and baseball on am radio (While I run with my beagle); going to the beach with my family.
What is your favorite place on campus and why? My favorite place on campus is the Theater. You could fill the room with the gallons of tears shed: tears of happiness, joy, bittersweet goodbyes, deep self-expression, fear, love, new friendships, sadness, laughter, gratitude, self-confidence, pride, and hope.
What drew you to teaching? I began teaching Theatre since 1990, the first day after I graduated High School. I taught story theatre and improvisation to five-year-old kids. We created a ten-minute play together called Mystery at The New York Circus. After the performance in the park we had a picnic with their parents. Best summer job I’ve ever had.
Campbell Hall is an independent coeducational day school for grades K-12, located in Studio City, CA. We are affiliated with the Episcopal Church and its 500-year history of academic excellence, and are also one of the most religiously and racially diverse schools in southern California.
