Nonprofit Founder gives 1,600 bikes to students in need
Katie Blomquist ’01, Founder and Executive Director of nonprofit organization Going Places, has given more than 1,600 bikes to students in need over the last two years. The nonprofit provides underserved children with bicycles which, she says, “truly transforms their childhood.” The bikes are a symbol of childhood joy, which Katie believes is the right of every kid. “Joy is a piece of social and emotional health,” she said. “It determines the kind of adult you’ll be.” Katie’s organization has been featured on Steve Harvey’s daytime talk show, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and ABC World News Tonight.
