Meet the Faculty

Mónica Ley

High School World Language, French and Spanish
Mónica began teaching in 1988 at the Beijing International School. Prior to joining Campbell Hall in 2000, she worked as a guest teacher for the National History Museum and the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program for the Manhattan Beach Middle School. Mónica was awarded first prize in the 1992 Ateliers de la Cour Roland textile design contest in Jouy-en-Josas, France and received first prize in the 1996 Salon Maison & Objet Marie Claire Maison designer-for-a-day contest in Paris. She is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Chinese and was employed at various times as an interpreter and translator by the embassies of Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Equatorial Guinea in Beijing. Mónica has had a committed personal contemplative practice for years. She infuses her teaching with mindfulness practices to provide students with tools that foster focus and awareness. Mónica holds a B.A. in Fine Arts and Textile and Surface Design from Central Academy of Art and Design in Beijing and a Textile and Fashion Design Diploma from ESMOD Paris.
