Glen Hirshberg

High School Creative Writing
Glen began teaching in 1993 at Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina. From 1995-2008, he taught English and Creative Writing at Campbell Hall, and served as Humanities and then English Department Chair from 2000-2006. From 2008-2011, Glen was a Professor of Fiction Writing at California State University, San Bernardino, helping to launch the MFA program there. Since returning to Campbell Hall, he has supervised the development of the Creative Writing Program and the CREW public partnership project, both of which he created. Glen has published nine books, several of which were selected as “Best of the Year” in publications such as Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist, and Locus, and has received enthusiastic reviews in publications such as the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. He is the recipient of a Shirley Jackson Award for Best Novella, an International Horror Guild Award for Best Novella, and two separate International Horror Guild Awards for Best Collection. He is also a five-time World Fantasy Award finalist. Glen holds a B.A. in English from Columbia University, and an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing and M.A. in English from the University of Montana.
