Each year a small group of dedicated students from Campbell Hall Episcopal School hold a fundraiser to benefit their three sister schools in Haiti. The schools there have extremely limited resources, and as a result, the communities around them have trouble improving their living conditions from one generation to the next. However, since the students began their fundraising efforts in 2015, they have raised over $150,000 and have transformed one of the schools, St. Jacques in Rosette, into a functioning campus with teachers, classrooms, sports court, kitchen, and working bathrooms. This simple but powerful transformation has affected everyone in the community, but there is still much to be done. That’s where you come in!

Our fundraising goal for this year is $20,000. It takes $10,000 to pay for the annual salaries for all of the teachers, without whom the school cannot operate. It will cost another $10,000 in order to install a large-scale water filtration system so they can safely provide water for students and faculty. Access to clean water in Haiti is particularly important. According to The Water Project, “Access to clean, fresh water is a main concern in Haiti, where waterborne illnesses, such as typhoid, cholera, and chronic diarrhea, are the cause of more than half of the deaths in the country every year. Contaminated water is also one of the leading causes of childhood illness and the very high infant death rate in Haiti (57 for every 1000 births).” This water filtration system will also provide a small source of income for the school since they can sell clean water to community members as well as use it to irrigate a small garden to feed not only the children and faculty of the school, but also members of the larger community.

$4 will pay for a child’s tuition at the school for 1 year. Please consider donating today.
