Green Teams Unite

The high school Green Team with their faculty teachers Monica Ley & Allison Shrage, spent time mentoring the new elementary 3rd & 4th grade Green Team by showing them how to tend their garden. All the kids loved getting their hands in the dirt as they pruned, weeded, and harvested leafy green vegetables, fragrant mint, purple beets, juicy red tomatoes, and sun-kissed zucchini.
With the support of Principal Robin Frank and elementary teachers Lindsay Allen-Blum & Dani Staahl, the high school Green Team discussed the importance of healthy eating and, with the wide array of gorgeous fresh vegetables that the students had grown themselves, it was easy for the little ones to understand that healthy foods can be tasty too! The high school students take time out of their busy schedules each month to share important information about urban agriculture and to serve as role models for these budding Green Team activists who will continue to tend future organic gardens.
