Tamara Conniff ’89, CEO of AMR Songs, and her family narrowly escaped the deadly blaze that reduced her home and beloved town of Lahaina to ashes. She shares her harrowing account in The Hollywood Reporter and how she is now advocating to protect the culture, rights, and land of the island’s indigenous people from predatory developers. As she says, “Lahaina must stay in Lahaina hands.” As the co-founder of the nonprofit, Mana Mentors, which helps teach at-risk youth how to surf and skate, she has pivoted to raising money so that her organization can help rebuild this historic place she calls home.
