Making Magic

Congratulations to Wyatt K. ’26 who was selected to join The Magic Castle’s highly esteemed Academy of Magical Arts Junior Society.
Wyatt auditioned as soon as he was eligible at age 13 and, in an extremely rare feat in the Junior Society’s history, was accepted on his first try. Wyatt has spent years working on his craft and his dedication has paid off. He, along with other Junior Society members, will attend monthly meetings, engage in performance workshops, and have the opportunity to perform at the Magic Castle’s weekend brunches.

How old were you when you first started doing magic?
My mom showed me a card trick she had learned from a magazine when I was 5 or 6. After that, I was completely hooked. I thought it was amazing and I wanted to learn all I could. I started with those boxes of magic tricks and just kept learning. I took the magic class in the summer with Mr Rowland when I was younger, now we have a magic club in middle school.

What does being admitted to the Academy of Magical Arts Junior Society mean to you?
It means everything. I feel like I waited so long to be 13 so I could audition. It's the most prestigious place for magicians to learn and come together. I feel so proud to be part of something so cool.

What are your future magic plans?
I'm actually not sure. I do know that magic will always be a part of my life. I have a lot of interests and I don’t exactly know where magic will take me, but I’m so excited to learn all I can and to perform at the Magic Castle brunches. It actually would be pretty cool to try and fool Penn and Teller!

Wyatt was profiled on Spectrum News One in both an article and news piece! CLICK HERE to read the story and to see some of Wyatt’s closeup magic!
