WHAT’S IT LIKE BEING A CAMPBELL HALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENT?

There are so many highlights to being an elementary school parent at Campbell Hall. The teachers clearly understand that separation anxiety is real, and it is typically the parents who have the most difficult time leaving their babies at school. The Kindergarten area is the best. Drop-off, if you arrive at school a little early, is the best way to hang out with your child and watch them interact with their classmates, but it is where parents are able to establish their community within the school. Chapel is another amazing experience at Campbell Hall. Whenever I have time to attend Chapel, I do. It's a wonderful way to ground yourself before tackling the day. I love that Chapel is a platform where students build their confidence in public speaking and refine their leadership skills.

WHAT DO YOU VALUE MOST ABOUT A CAMPBELL HALL EDUCATION FOR YOUR CHILDREN?
I value the holistic approach to education at Campbell Hall. My children are learning beyond what is in their textbooks. They are learning how to express their emotions in an honest and judgement-free environment and they are learning how to be compassionate to others and also to themselves. What I value most of all, is that Campbell Hall mimics our values at home; my children are challenged to be their absolute best selves, on both academic and emotional levels.

WHAT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES HAVE YOU ENJOYED?
I was recently nominated as the President of the board for Black Heritage Families this summer. We felt a board of directors was the best way to establish organization and accountability for the tasks at hand for Black students and their families at Campbell Hall. In prior years, I volunteered for some BHF events, but never thought I would be the President of the BHF board where we are working to foster positive change and universal understanding within the CH community. In addition to BHF, I've volunteered as an Admissions Parent Ambassador and a Science Lab Coordinator.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT CAMPBELL HALL?
It sounds cliché, but the close community of families is what I love most about Campbell Hall. Campbell Hall was our first stop when my family moved from Chicago three years ago. The Campbell Hall community accepted and embraced us immediately. Campbell Hall will always have a special place in my heart because when we were the most vulnerable, Campbell Hall made us feel at home.
