CH student newspaper, The Piper, named as a CSPA Crown Finalist!

Campbell Hall’s student newspaper, The Piper, has been named as a 2019 Crown finalist for print news by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The Crown Awards are the highest distinction given by CSPA, the nation’s oldest scholastic press association. The distinction of Gold and Silver Crowns will be made at CSPA’s annual convention in New York in March 2019.

This is The Piper’s first Crown Award, and the student journalists have been working toward this goal for years. A total of 1,172 publications were submitted for a Crown Award, from which 36 print newspapers and 58 hybrid (print and online) newspapers were chosen as finalists. Publications were judged on overall excellence demonstrated in writing and reporting, coverage, design, and photography by a panel of scholastic and media professionals.

The editor of the 2018 Piper was Cady De Camara, who is now a student at Northwestern University. A special thanks to Christine Gaul, who has provided great leadership as The Piper Advisor. Congratulations to everyone!
