How long have you been teaching at Campbell Hall?
4 years

What do you love most about teaching at Campbell Hall?
Firstly, the students - they make teaching here so incredibly fun and they inspire me to be creative - making dances and coming up with new ways to teach dance. In dance, I have the same students for years, so I get the chance to really get to know them and see them grow as dancers and humans. I also love the amazing offerings that Campbell Hall has - outdoor trips, music ranging from Pop Music Ensemble to Gospel Choir, creative writing nights, gallery shows (even shows that explore STEM projects), and just so much more. My students are all so multi-dimensional, and I love seeing the incredible things they are involved in. It's really fantastic that we have such a strong dance program alongside everything else - I like that my students don't have to choose between dance and other things, because it makes them all so special and gives them unique voices as dancers and choreographers.

What drew you to teaching?
I completely stumbled into teaching. After college, I planned to take a year off before going to school for Physical Therapy. I applied to any and every job I could find, and I was lucky enough to be hired as a dance teacher (and 7th grade English teacher) at a private school. For a while I still thought I'd go back to school, but realized I had really lucked my way into my dream job. When I graduated college, I truly thought I would be leaving dance behind, aside from maybe taking classes. It's still pretty incredible to me that I get to dance every day, share my passion with students, and constantly learn from them, and teaching has inspired me to keep pursuing my own dancing and choreography.
