#CHTeacherTuesday

Kathleen Milmore, Second Grade Teacher
How long have you been a teacher?
I’ve been teaching in some form since 1991.

How long have you been teaching at Campbell Hall?
I’ve been teaching at Campbell Hall since 2000. I taught third grade at Campbell Hall for 13 years and then I switched to second grade in 2013.

Why is Campbell Hall so special?
Campbell Hall is such a special place because of the wonderful sense of community it fosters! Over the last twenty years this campus has become almost like my second home and family. I’ve taught so many amazing students and being able to watch them all grow up, graduate high school and go off to college is an amazing gift. (And part of what makes a K-12 school so special.) I’ve also made incredible friends while teaching at CH and am truly honored to work with the best colleagues there are. So many of us have taught each other’s children! Of course, having my son (Riley Anderson - Class of 2016) attend CH since kindergarten and come to work with me every day for 13 years is something I will always cherish. And now I’m even working with some of my former students who are all grown up! The CH community creates a very special bond between anyone who is part of it!

What drew you to teaching?
I loved going to school when I was growing up and I always liked to “play” school. I even used to make up school work for my younger sister to do. (Which she was not thrilled about!) And I’ve always loved children and loved working with them. I also tended to gravitate toward the subjects of reading and writing, so I think it was just a natural choice that I became an elementary teacher!
