Rebecca Weitzel ’13

Law Student Finds Her Niche
After graduating from Wellesley College with a bachelor’s in Spanish, Rebecca Weitzel ’13 returned to Campbell Hall where, for two years she worked as the academic enrichment coordinator for the Campbell Scholars Program (CSP), one of the school’s signature public partnership programs. Now in her second year at the University of Virginia School of Law, Rebecca’s interest in privacy and cybersecurity law led her to a new role as editor-in-chief of the Virginia Journal of Law & Technology (VJoLT). Her passion for and experience in educational equity is also being applied to her current work. She says: “Overall, I hope that VJoLT becomes a forum that scholars, students, practitioners and regular citizens turn to when they want to engage with cutting-edge discourse on tech law issues. This goal will be accomplished in part by ensuring that publishing with our journal is more accessible to all. Accessibility will not reduce the caliber of scholarship; in fact, diversity of background, experience and thought will only further enrich our journal.”
