Doctor uses music therapy to help children suffering from illnesses
Dr. Raffi Tachdjian ’87, Founder and President of the nonprofit organization Children’s Music Fund, uses music therapy to help children affected by serious conditions or life-altering illnesses. The nonprofit was predicated on the fact that while doctors use medications to treat symptoms, music can provide additional healing, both for the body and the soul. Engaging children in music-making and listening helps reduce pain and anxiety, and provides a much-needed distraction from their conditions.

Raffi is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is voted one of the UCLA Health System’s Best Doctors.
