Jim Whiting

Middle School and High School Music
Jim began teaching at Campbell Hall in 2000. During his musical studies in New York, Jim performed at venues ranging from the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall to The Blue Note and off-Broadway theaters. In addition to his training as a trumpet player, Jim also helped found a music program for underserved students in the Bronx. In graduate school, Jim worked with Venezuela's famed El Sistema to perform, give master classes, and work with then-teenager, Gustavo Dudamel. Jim founded Campbell Hall’s high school jazz band, orchestra, and chamber music programs. Jim received his B.M. and M.M. from Manhattan School of Music.
