Homeboy Industries Learning Works Charter School
New in 2017, Campbell Hall and Homeboy Industries are partnering to support the mission of their charter school, Learning Works, “to provide a personalized, rigorous academic program to disengaged youth and students in crisis who have dropped out of traditional school.”
Self-expression is key to engaging students anywhere, anytime. The arts lend themselves to this re-engagement with childhood imagination and absorption in learning new skills. To that end, Campbell Hall will run a television production workshop for Learning Works students. Students will take over the TV studio, running the control board, cameras and green screen, writing scripts, acting, and editing. The result will be a full television show and most of all, a positive experience in learning that can be transferred to all academic pursuits that lead toward a high school diploma.
Our primary goal is to narrow the education gap, but in doing so, we also narrow the social and cultural gap.
