Karl began teaching in 1998 in the Long Beach Unified School District. Prior to joining Campbell Hall in 2003, he taught at Milken Community High School and in between his service to Campbell Hall, taught at St. Paul’s Academy in Bellingham, Washington. Having received a shared National Science Foundation (NSF) grant, Karl does research on coral ecology in Virgin Islands National Park during the summers and is working on a model for carbon neutrality for LA area independent schools. Karl holds a B.S. in Marine Science and Anthropology from University of Miami and an M.Ed. in STEAM Education from University of San Diego.
