Girls Sports Have Strong Week

Vikings Girls' Sports had a strong week, putting up regular season and Gold Coast League wins!

Girls' Tennis opened their 2019 campaign with two huge wins against San Marino and Corona del Mar High Schools.  The defending CIF Open Division Champions opened Wednesday with an 11-7 win over San Marino at Weddington in front of a home crowd.  The following day, the Vikings traveled to Corona del Mar and repeated their 11-7 score for another W.  Read more about the Vikings win over Corona del Mar here. This is a tremendous start for a Vikings team that graduated seven seniors off of last year's championship team.  Great start Vikings!  Keep up the good work.  Girls' Tennis next game is at home versus Oaks Christian at 3pm on Tuesday, September 10.

Girls' Volleyball got their first Gold Coast League win on Wednesday with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-20) road win over Windward.  Senior Alejandra Velazquez led the Vikings with 14 kills, followed by junior Tess Riordan with 11 kills for the Vikings.  Savannah Davis had 27 assists in the game.  Varsity Volleyball had a bit of a set back against Brentwood Thursday night, losing to the Eagles 3-2 (16-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 16-18).  But, the Vikings JV team picked them up sweeping Brentwood 2-0!  The Vikings played outstanding as a team, holding Brentwood to scores of just 12 and 20 points.  Great start in the Gold Coast League Vikings!  Volleyball's next game will be at home on Tuesday, September 10 - F/S at 3, JV at 4, Varsity at 5.
