The Class of 2021 Endowed Alumni Scholarship + Alumni Courtyard Stones

Dear Families of the Class of 2021,

Last year, a group of parents came together looking to show their appreciation of the school while also creating an opportunity to preserve their children's philanthropic legacy as future CH alumni and stakeholders in the school.

Though the pandemic dramatically impacted their children’s traditional senior year, celebrations, and rites of passage, the families of the Class of 2020 joined together to raise over $100,000 for a newly named endowed fund, The Class of 2020 Endowment for Financial Aid. By doing so, a new Campbell Hall tradition was created!

We invite the parents of our graduating Class of 2021 seniors to honor their child’s time at Campbell Hall by purchasing a courtyard stone inscribed and installed permanently in the Alumni Courtyard located on the high school campus. When your family returns to campus, you will have the pleasure of viewing your enduring testament of support of Campbell Hall for years to come.

With your purchase of an Alumni Courtyard Stone, each family will not only leave their mark on campus; proceeds from these stones will establish the Class of 2021 Endowed Alumni Scholarship Fund providing need-based tuition assistance to deserving students, with preference given to children of CH alumni. It will also serve as an enduring point of connection between 2021 graduates and their alma mater.

As two of the graduating classes most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 are emblematic of the CH spirit, showing that even amid challenge and sacrifice, the strength, resilience, and generosity of these two classes created this life-long gift benefiting future generations of Vikings.

Thank you for joining fellow senior parents to celebrate and honor your children. Here’s to the unstoppable class of 2021- defining their legacy for years to come!

  • WHAT IS AN ENDOWMENT?

The principal of an endowment is invested in perpetuity and largely remains intact, allowing it to grow over time. A percentage can be used for Campbell Hall’s yearly expenses to fund everything from faculty salaries and benefits to financial aid to campus improvements.
  • HOW DOES THE ENDOWMENT BENEFIT CAMPBELL HALL?

Campbell Hall’s endowment is designed to keep the principal amount intact while using the investment income to support the annual operations of the school. Preserving the principal provides a perpetual source of income that the school can rely on forever into the future.
  • HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM THE CH FUND?

CH Fund donations are used in their entirety during the year in which they are given to support the current priorities of the school. Gifts to the endowment are invested to preserve the principal for the long-term while the investment income is used to supplement the annual operating budget.
  • WHAT DOES THE CLASS OF 2021 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT?

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship provides financial aid to children of alumni whose families might not otherwise afford a Campbell Hall education.
  • WHAT IS CH’S ENDOWMENT SPENDING RATE?

The Board-approved endowment spending rate for the 2019-20 academic year is approximately 4%.
  • WHO SETS THE ENDOWMENT POLICY?

The school’s Finance Committee develops endowment policy for approval by the CH Board of Directors.
  • WHO INVESTS THE FUNDS?

Campbell Hall’s endowment is managed by external investment advisors overseen by the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
