Parent Teacher Council

The purpose of the Parent Teacher Council is to support and enhance the activities of Campbell Hall, to encourage participation and cooperation among all members of the Campbell Hall community, and to support fund-raising for the benefit of the school. The membership of the Parent Teacher Council consists of all parents and/or guardians of Campbell Hall students. Each year, the membership of the PTC elects officers from the parent community.


PRESIDENT: It shall be the duty of the President to:
  • Preside at all meetings and perform all the duties enjoined upon him (her) by these Bylaws;
  • Be the Chief Executive of the CHPTC, and exercise all the functions thereof;
  • Serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees of Campbell Hall School, with voting privileges;
  • Establish special committees to conduct the business of the CHPTC, and appoint committee chairs for all standing and special committees; appoint officers other than elected ones and/or members-at-large to the CHPTC Board as he (she) deems necessary to perform the functions, duties and obligations of the CHPTC;
  • Select, in consultation with the Nominating Committee, the slate of nominees to fill the remaining offices of the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • Distribute to each CHPTC Board member a copy of that portion of the CHPTC handbook pertinent to that office and keep a current handbook to pass on to his (her) successor at the close of term of office;
  • Serve as ex-officio member of all committees;
  • Appoint a parliamentarian (President Emeritus) for a second term year to assist in matters of parliamentary procedure;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee during his (her) term;
  • Serve as a member of the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • Serve as Parliamentarian the year following his (her) term;
  • It is recommended he (she) has served on the CHPTC Board Executive Committee at least one year prior to being nominated to this position.

    VICE PRESIDENTS, Elementary School: It shall be the duty of the Elementary School Vice Presidents to:
  • Report his (her) activities to the President and/or the CHPTC Board;
  • Coordinate CHPTC activities with regard to the Elementary School;
  • Oversee the standing committees which report to the Elementary School Vice President;
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the Elementary School Class Coordinators;
  • Coordinate all activities with the Elementary School Principal;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • It is recommended he (she) has served on the CHPTC Board at least one year prior to being nominated to this position.

    VICE PRESIDENTS, Junior High School: It shall be the duty of the Junior High School Vice Presidents to:
  • Report his (her) activities to the President and/or the CHPTC Board;
  • Coordinate CHPTC activities with regard to the Junior High School;
  • Oversee the standing committees which report to the Junior High School Vice President;
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the Junior High School Class Coordinators;
  • Coordinate all activities with the Junior High School Principal;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • It is recommended he (she) has served on the CHPTC Board at least one year prior to being nominated to this position.

    VICE PRESIDENTS, High School: It shall be the duty of the High School Vice Presidents to:
  • Report his (her) activities to the President and/or the CHPTC Board;
  • Coordinate CHPTC activities with regard to the High School;
  • Oversee the standing committees which report to the High School Vice Presidents;
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the High School Class Coordinators;
  • Coordinate all activities with the High School Principal;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • It is recommended he (she) has served on the CHPTC Board at least one year prior to being nominated to this position.

    BAGPIPER’S BALL CHAIR: Chair shall be appointed by CHPTC President and Headmaster and shall serve as an ex-officio member or the CHPTC Board Executive Committee with voting privileges. It shall be the duty of the Chair to:
  • Report to the President and the CHPTC Board on all matters pertaining to the annual Bagpiper’s Ball;
  • Abide by the rules and regulations for all fund raising events as set forth by the Campbell Hall (Episcopal) and CHPTC;
  • Submit for approval, to the President and Campbell Hall School Director of Advancement:
  • Wording of tickets, invitations, letters of solicitation or any material to be printed, before printing and distribution;
  • Any contract and/or proposed financial commitments for authorized signatures;
  • Any unbudgeted expenditures of $200.00 or more from benefit accounts.
  • Coordinate all CHPTC Bagpiper’s Ball activities with the President and the Headmaster;
  • Establish Bagpiper’s Ball committees as needed to meet the goals of the Bagpiper’s Ball and appoint committee chairs in consultations with the President and the Headmaster;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • May work with a co-VP.

    21ST CENTURY FUND PARENT CHAIR: Chair shall be appointed by CHPTC President and Headmaster and serve as an ex officio member of the CHPTC Board Executive Committee with voting privileges. It shall be the duty of the Chair to:
  • Report to the President and the CHPTC Board on all matters pertaining to the 21st Century Fund;
  • Abide by the rules and regulations for all fund raising events as set forth by the Campbell Hall (Episcopal) and CHPTC;
  • Coordinate all Council 21st Century Fund activities with the President, the Headmaster and the Campbell Hall Director of Advancement;
  • Establish 21st Century Fund volunteer committees as needed to meet the goals of the 21st Century Fund and appoint committee chairs in consultation with the President, the Headmaster and the Campbell Hall Director of Advancement;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee.

    PARLIAMENTARIAN: (CHPTC President Emeritus): It shall be the duty of the Parliamentarian to:
  • Consult in matters of parliamentary procedure;
  • If necessary, aid President in choosing successor for President's second year of term.

    SECRETARY: It shall be the duty of the Secretary to:
  • Keep a copy of the Council Bylaws, as amended to date;
  • Record the minutes of and the attendance at all regular meetings of the CHPTC and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • Within one (1) week following each CHPTC or CHPTC Board Executive Committee meeting, submit to the President copies of the minutes of said meeting;
  • At least ten (10) days prior to any regularly scheduled CHPTC meeting or CHPTC Board Executive Committee meeting submit, by mail, copies of prior meeting to the CHPTC Board (or CHPTC Board Executive Committee) for review;
  • Give notice of all regular meetings of the CHPTC and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee as required by these Bylaws;
  • Serve as a member of the Nominating Committee and the CHPTC Board Executive Committee;
  • It is recommended he (she) has served on the CHPTC Board at least one year prior to being nominated to this position.
