Half the Sky Foundation, China
Support for Chinese Children
Many of China's 70 million people still don't have enough to eat or wear and have difficulty providing for their children. Abandoned girls, in particular, are likely to end up neglected in government institutions.
Working closely with local Chinese government, Half the Sky Foundation was created by American adoptive parents of Chinese children in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for children in China who still wait to be adopted. Many of these children will spend their childhoods in orphanages. Early childhood education focuses on personalized learning and nurturing infants in these institutions. Individual attention and an active learning environment provided by the foundation give these children a chance for normal development and a productive and happy life. Chinese care-givers are being trained to move forward with this ministry.
Thousands of children, especially girls, have had their lives touched by caring Half the Sky volunteers over the past decade.
