Backpack

The Health Office recommends that if your student carries a backpack, it is no more than 15% of his/her body weight .A backpack made of dense material with well-padded shoulder straps is best. The pack should fit snugly and the bottom should rest in the curve of the lower back for proper support. The straps should be settled on both shoulders to distribute the weight evenly. Students should squat down to pick up their packs, not bend at the waist.

You could check out The Liftpack ( www.liftpack.com) for one option or ask at sporting good stores for packs that are created with spinal health in mind.

A rolling backpack is the best solution and we highly recommend them
