Strategy
The Technology Department is driven by the school's Strategic Plan. The following is how the Technology Department implements the criteria set forth in the Strategic Plan.
- Professional and timely tech support to faculty and students, including new student orientation and technology integration
- Ongoing education opportunities in the form of one-on-one training, after school workshops and professional conferences
- Proposal design of faculty technology requests and submission to the school’s finance committee
- Ongoing education within the department by requiring the Technology Department to attend professional development and certification seminars
- Maintenance of the Campus Intranet that connects parents, students, and faculty
- All classrooms contain a computer and a projector for use by the instructor and students
- Twelve classrooms that are designed as dedicated computer labs for instructors with technology-driven curricula
- Ceiling-mounted projectors in all school classrooms
- Secure personal storage for students and faculty which is available on- and off-campus
- 100mb of Internet bandwidth to support Internet usage
- Assistance in obtaining special software for specific teacher needs
- Oversight of the Acceptable Use Policy for students, faculty, and staff
- Oversight of ordering, installation, and training for new software and/or hardware
- Ongoing compliance with International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards
The following strategies are specifically implemented in the Ahmanson Library.
- Twenty-one computers available to students for Internet research
- Subscriptions to numerous research-quality databases
- Scanners available for classroom projects
- Virtual book catalog available to students and faculty on- and off-campus
- Instruction provided regularly on Internet research techniques and skills
- Constant monitoring of database and electronic information sources
- Projector and wireless technology utilized in the story room
