From the Headmaster

Greetings from Campbell Hall. It is my great pleasure to welcome you via our web site, which is designed to give you an overview of our school and also to provide helpful specifics about the program. That said, I hope you can visit our campus and experience firsthand the joys of this lively and warm college preparatory school.

With a 68-year history and 1100 students in grades K-12, Campbell Hall is a richly complex and textured community that must be experienced to be understood. We are both progressive and traditional, with one of most innovative schedules in the independent school world and a dynamic, research-based educational program alongside uniforms and weekly chapel. We are affiliated with the Episcopal Church and its five-hundred-year history of academic excellence, and also one of the most religiously (and racially) diverse schools in southern California. Believing both discipline and balance to be crucial in healthy, productive lives, the program provides a vast range of possibilities for intellectual, creative, and athletic pursuits throughout this vibrant 15-acre campus.

Campbell Hall is rooted in tradition and also moving boldly into the future. The school's last comprehensive long range planning process led to the creation of Strategic Plan 2008, which serves as our road map in all areas of school life: The Academic Program, The Episcopal Tradition of the School, Diversity, Finance, Technology and The Physical Plant. I invite you to read the Plan and its implementation updates. I also invite you to read about the progress of the Arts and Education Center, a state-of-the-art classroom building opening in the fall of 2012 that bears witness to this community’s energy and commitment.

Tour this website and learn about the unique balance of rigor and joy that makes this place so special. Better yet, come visit and experience first-hand the sense of connection and opportunity that inspires us every day!

Best wishes,
The Rev. Canon Julian P. Bull
